Pontardawe Golf Club was very proud to host the Golau charity golf day on Friday 20th June 2014, and what better way to support a charity that has touched us all at some time in our lives, than to hold a charity golf day and what an enormous success the day turned out to be.

The Golau Cancer Foundation, is the new name for fundraising for the South West Wales Cancer Centre and Golau's goal is to help raise vital funds to support the patients and staff of the South West Wales Cancer Centre

The South Wales Cancer Centre, is a part of the South Wales Cancer Network and is the second largest non-surgical Cancer centre in the country, situated in Singleton Hospital. This Cancer Centre cares for people living in Bridgend to Aberystwyth, and across all of West Wales, supporting a population of over 800,000 people. They give over 45,000 treatments to people every year. Helping tens of thousands of people and their families through the fight against Cancer

1 in 3 of us will be diagnosed with cancer in our lives, but now more of us will Survive! Cancer causes 1 in 4 deaths in Wales, leaving very few of us unaffected by Cancer. However, with advances in Cancer research, treatment and care, survival rates are continuing to increase, Now over half of people diagnosed with Cancer are now surviving for at least 5 years. This is thanks to more people committing to the fight against Cancer.

The Golau Cancer Foundation helps to raise those vital funds that make this possible, but there is still a way to go.
