Summer Golf is here....Or that's what we like to think
Summer Golf is here, or that's what we like to think now the Winter League Finals have been played and we've got our winners. All we need now is the sun to shine on Pontardawe Golf Course and the temperatures to rise.
All winter long golfers have played golf in what can only be described as atrocious winter weather, probably one of the wettest in living memory, but that didn't deter Pontardawe's harden golfers.
Horrendous gales, rain, sleet, snow, thunder and lightning, frost, you name it they played golf in it. You've got to take your hat off to them, or should we booking them an appointment in an Psychiatric hospital.
The top twenty point scorers in the Saturday & Sunday winter league leagues played for the respective coveted tiles and guess what the weather again was absolutely abysmal, gales, rain & hailstones.
Saturday Winter league results (14 Holes)
1st Michael Jones - 29pts
2nd Gary Jones - 26pts (won on count back)
3rd David Nelson - 26pts
Sunday Winter league results (14 Holes)
1st Kevin N Davies - 33pts
2nd Alun Sterl - 30pts
3rd Rhydian J Howells- 28pts (won on count back)
A big thanks to Jamie Probert and his ground staff, who have braved the elements all winter to keep the course open and playable. A big thanks again to Judith Williams and Conrad Dyment-Jones for all the hard work they've put in to make the winter league such a popular success. The ladies section had a strong contingent of entries in the finals and as per normal weren't shy on enjoying themselves in the clubhouse afterwards
The presentation ceremony was followed by some really great music played by Local band "Refugee" who kept us old fella's thoroughly entertained with rock music from the past. A really top class rock band playing lots of blasts from the past.
As per usual at Pontardawe Golf Club everybody thoroughly
